Will walk shirtless if we win World Cup: Virat Kohli

    What's the story

Indian skipper Virat Kohli seems to have drawn inspiration from former India captain Sourav Ganguly's iconic shirt-waving celebration at the Lord's.

The 29-year-old, in a recent interview, claimed that he would walk around Oxford Street shirtless if India manage to win the 2019 World Cup in England.

Ganguly had taken off his shirt after India defeated England in the NatWest Series final in 2002.

    Shirtless celebration

Kohli draws inspiration from Ganguly's Lord's celebration

During Boria Majumdar's book launch, 'Eleven Gods and a Billion Indians', Kohli admitted that he is ready to roam shirtless if India win the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Both Ganguly and Kohli were present at the book launch.

Kohli further added that he will not be alone in doing so and that the likes of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah will join him.

    Quote

Bumrah and Pandya to join Kohli?

"I don't think it will only be me. For sure, Hardik will be following me. 120 per cent. Bumrah is there as well because he has six packs too. He is there in the game. There will be a few candidates" Kohli said.

    Record chase

Kohli and Ganguly remember India's iconic victory

Kohli, who himself does not hold his emotions back, defended Sourav Ganguly for his wild celebrations at Lord's.

India were chasing a massive target of 326. They started off well scoring 106 off 14.2 overs.

India then lost quick wickets and found themselves at 146/5.

But brilliant innings from young Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif saw India lift the trophy.

    Quote

'That was just pure human emotion'

"You cannot be a robot. You have to be honest to yourself. If you are not yourself, you will sleep with regrets. I am sure that moment was very organic- he didn't care whether he was at Lord's...That was just pure human emotion," Kohli concluded.
