Klopp: UEFA Nations League most senseless competition in the world

    What's the story

Jurgen Klopp does not seem to be pleased that a number of Liverpool footballers will be leaving to play in the UEFA Nations League during the international break.

Klopp spoke his mind during a press conference where he termed the Nations League as the most senseless competition in the world.

This, in turn, triggered German boss Joachim Low, who fired back.

    Details follow.

    Details

What did Klopp say in the press conference?

Post Liverpool vs Manchester City, Klopp said that winning 20 points in eight games is good enough.

He said Liverpool are ready for match-day 9, but "the boys, unfortunately, go away again now and have to play Nations League games- the most senseless competition in the world of football!"

Klopp believes that the intensity of big matches reduce because players don't get enough rest.

Joachim Low has back back on Klopp for his comments

German national team coach Joachim Low has, however, taken exception to Klopp's comments and is a supporter of the Nations League.

According to Low, this competition pitches the top national teams of Europe against each other. And they fight for a prize instead of playing in mindless friendlies.

However, Low said that he understands that the club coaches do not prefer international breaks.

    Information

Liverpool's fixtures after the international break

After the international break gets over, Liverpool will be facing Huddersfield on October 20. Then on October 24, they face Red Star Belgrade in their UCL group stage encounter and three days later on October 27, Klopp's men clash against Cardiff City in the EPL.
