IPL 2018: Weakest link in every team
What's the story
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 kicks off in Mumbai on April 7 as Rohit Sharma's side host MS Dhoni's Chennai.
With every franchise doing their part in the January auction, there are still certain loopholes.
The eight teams will be wanting to address their loopholes with what they possess.
Here, we analyse the weak links surrounding the sides in IPL 11 campaign.
Finding a balance
Two contrasting tales for CSK & RR
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are both making comeback to the IPL after two years of oblivion.
Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK have opted for a heavy looking spin attack.
Under Steve Smith, RR don't have a world class spinner despite the overall look of the side is solid.
An aged looking CSK and Pune inspired Royals will need to strike a balance.

CSK- Notable T20 pacer missing and also a back-up opener if Shane Watson and Murali Vijay fail. Royals- Over dependent on Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane as pure batsmen. Spin is their weakest spot with no quality in the department.

So what about KKR & KXIP?
Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab will both have new leaders in Dinesh Karthik and R Ashwin respectively.
Therefore, one can expect a new scenario in both outfits where the Tamil Nadu duo will look to dictate proceedings.
Kolkata cannot afford injuries especially with their thin batting.
KXIP are spoilt for choices in their batting department.
So overall it's quite an interesting ploy.

Weak links in KKR, KXIP camp
KKR- Batting is extremely thin and weak. No bench strength and look over dependent on Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa. KXIP- The team lack a genuine wicket-keeper which is a key factor. Also the pace bowling lacks the firepower to deliver consistently.
Key identifications
MI and SRH look up to the core
Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have built their sides around the core.
Mumbai have gone heavy on uncapped players besides their famed core unit.
David Warner-led SRH too have gone for the usual regulars.
In short, SRH look a better bet as a side on paper and Mumbai need their biggies to chip in consistently.

Mumbai: Batting is a huge concern with over dependence on Rohit Sharma and JP Duminy. Also spin is their weakness as they do not possess a quality name. SRH- Hardly have any weak link. However, a consistent finisher is what they need.
Pace attack
RCB & DD pace could govern progression
RCB look formidable and skipper Virat Kohli will hope this year is their lucky one.
Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand, have the experience of Gautam Gambhir and coach Ricky Ponting. The biggest contrast between the two sides is the pace attack.
RCB have a plethora of stars, DD lack the edge.

Bangalore- Very few weaknesses just like SRH. With a plethora of foreign recruits, not all will get to play. Delhi- Pace bowling would be their worry especially at the death. Delhi need their batsmen to shine in every match possible.
