The latest ICC Test Rankings for Batters witnessed significant changes within the top 10. England's Harry Brook and Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan have made substantial progress. Despite these shifts, Joe Root continues to hold his position as the world's top-ranked Test batter following England's victory in their series opener against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford. Brook has ascended three spots to fourth in the rankings, following his impressive performance against Sri Lanka. He owns 758 rating points under his belt. He is behind the likes of Root, Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell, who occupy the top three places. Australia's Steve Smith is placed 5th in the Test Rankings for Batters. Pakistan's Babar Azam dropped six places to be ninth. Australia's Usman Khawaja and Pakistan's Rizwan occupy the joint-10th place.
These Indians are in the top 10 list
Among Indians, Yashasvi Jaiswal jumped one place to be 7th. He has 740 rating points. Virat Kohli also jumped two berths and is placed 8th behind Jaiswal. Another Indian present in the top 10 is Rohit Sharma, who remains unscathed at number six.
Ashwin leads Test bowlers, Jayasuriya and Woakes advance
In the ICC Test Rankings for bowlers, India's Ravichandran Ashwin continues to lead. Sri Lanka's Prabath Jayasuriya has moved up one place to ninth after taking five wickets against England in Manchester. England seamer Chris Woakes moved four places to 16th and Sri Lanka's Asitha Fernando jumped 10 spots to 17th. Pakistan's Naseem Shah (up four spots to 33rd) and England's Gus Atkinson (up four places to 42nd), have achieved new career-best ratings following their recent performances.
