    What's the story

Frances Tiafoe is turning out to be America's latest tennis sensation.

The 20-year-old won his first ATP Tour title on Sunday after beating Peter Gojowczyk 6-1, 6-4 in the Delray Beach Open final.

He became the youngest American to win an ATP Tour title since 2002.

Andy Roddick had won an ATP title, aged 19 in 2002 in Houston.

    Rising star

Frances beats Peter Gojowczyk to win Delray Beach Open

The 20-year-old has been in sensational form since the turn of the year and made light work of Germany's Peter Gojowczyk beating him 6-1, 6-4.

This was the first major final of his career.

The young American has also beaten the likes of Juan Martin Del Potro, Hyeon Chung and Denis Shapovalov earlier this year.

    Quote

    Tiafoe cannot believe his fortunes

"I can't believe it. If you had asked me 10 years ago if I could win a title at 20 I would have laughed. It's unbelievable. Now I'm in a position not only to help myself, but help fund my family." the ecstatic youngster said.

    Destiny

Wild card invitation proves lucky for 20-year-old

Destiny played a major role in Frances Tiafoe's life. He failed to sign up for the Delray Beach Open but was luckily given a wild-card entry at the tournament.

His triumph has now seen his ATP ranking jump to 61st place.

Last week, he was a part of the New York Open where he managed to reach the quarterfinal.

    Do you know?

Frances Tiafoe is the new rising star

Tiafoe's parents, who are originally from Sierra Leone in Africa, moved to the United States in search of a better life. His older brother works a maintenance worker at a Maryland tennis club, this is where Tiafoe's love affair with the sport began.
