    What's the story

England pacer Chris Woakes has expressed his readiness to participate in the upcoming overseas Test tours of Pakistan and New Zealand.

Despite facing criticism for his performance during England's 0-4 defeat in Australia during the 2021-22 Ashes series, Woakes remains undeterred.

His last overseas Test appearance was in 2022.

The fast bowler has a commendable record of taking 127 wickets in 32 Test matches on home soil but has managed only 36 wickets from 20 matches abroad.

    Dedication

Woakes's commitment to England's cricket team

Woakes reaffirmed his commitment to the England cricket team, stating that he is prepared to play wherever he is selected.

He told reporters, "I'll play for England when I'm picked to play for England. I certainly wouldn't rule myself out."

This statement comes as England prepares for a three-Test series in Pakistan in October and another three in New Zealand in December.

    Optimism

    Woakes's perspective on upcoming tours

Woakes also shared his optimistic view on the upcoming tours.

He stated, "The selectors will have their plans, but I'm certainly not going to turn down a tour if selected."

Woakes further added that not having played an away Test for some time could be beneficial as it might provide a fresh perspective.

This attitude underscores his determination to improve his overseas performance record.

    Skill enhancement

Woakes's efforts to enhance his batting skills

In addition to his bowling prowess, Woakes has been focusing on improving his batting skills. He believes this could increase his chances of being selected for the tours.

The 35-year-old cricketer, with a batting average of 27.76, stated, "That's a bonus, isn't it? It's certainly something which I've always worked on."

His dedication to enhancing both aspects of his game demonstrates his commitment toward contributing more effectively to the team's success.
