    What's the story

    Gameweek 2 of the UEFA Champions League 2019-20 season lived up to expectations of a thrilling night of football.

    Tottenham were trounced 7-2 by Bayern Munich at home, whereas, Real Madrid survived a scare after a 2-2 draw at home.

    There were crucial wins for Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

    Here are the key takeaways.

    TOT vs BAY

    Spurs humiliated at home by rampant Bayern

    Spurs got off to a good start with Son Heung-min getting the opening goal.

    However, Bayern got back quickly with Joshua Kimmich's superb 20-yard finish.

    Talisman Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern the lead at the stroke of half-time.

    In the second half, it was a nightmare for Spurs.

    They were unable to stop the visitors with Serge Gnabry scoring four goals.

    Real's misery

    Real survive scare, PSG top Group A

    Club Bruges gave Real Madrid a big headache after going 2-0 up following a brace from 21-year-old Emmanuel Dennis.

    The hosts got massive help from VAR to pull one back, before Ruud Vormer's red card saw Real score the equalizer from a resulting free-kick.

    Real were poor all night long to sit bottom of Group A.

    Meanwhile, PSG beat Galatasaray 1-0 to sit atop.

    Juve and Atletico

    Juventus blank Leverkusen as Ronaldo scores, Atletico win

    Group D saw heavyweights Juventus and Atletico Madrid winning their respective games.

    Juve blanked Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at home.

    Cristiano Ronaldo amassed his 127th career UCL goal after scoring in the 88th minute.

    Gonzalo Higuain and Federico Bernardeschi scored as well.

    Meanwhile, Atletico too kept their cool and won a crucial away tie.

    Record-breaking Joao Felix impressed for the Madrid side.

    Man City

    Substitutes Sterling, Foden help City win 2-0

    Manchester City beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 after a hard-fought display at the Etihad.

    Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden came off the bench to score for the hosts.

    Sterling opened the scoring in the 66th minute and then set up Foden in stoppage time.

    City's second successive win sees the side top Group C.

    Guardiola was highly impressed with Foden's display.
