    What's the story

German champions Bayern Munich suffered their heaviest Bundesliga defeat for a decade with a 1-5 thrashing at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The result leaves head coach Niko Kovac under huge pressure.

Bayern slipped down to fourth in the Bundesliga table with 18 points from ten league games in the 2019-20 season.

Here are further details about Bayern's defeat.

    Bayern defeat

Bayern suffer biggest defeat since the 2008-09 season

It was Bayern's biggest league defeat since April 2009.

Back then, the German giants crashed 5-1 at Wolfsburg, who went on to win the 2008-09 league title.

Bayern suffered their third league defeat this season and have shipped in 16 goals already.

This was their second loss in the last five league games.

They are four points behind league leaders Borussia Moenchengladbach.

    Frankfurt vs Bayern

How did the match pan out?

Filip Kostic and Djibril Sow put Frankfurt 2-0 ahead after Jerome Boateng was shown a red card in the ninth minute.

Robert Lewandowski responded for the visitors with his 14th league goal of the campaign.

David Abraham made it 3-1 shortly after half-time, before Martin Hinteregger and Goncalo Paciencia added more goals.

Bayern saw rivals Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzing climb above them.

    Quote

'The game went exactly how we didn't want it to'

Kovac said the result was disappointing. "The game went exactly how we didn't want it to. Even with a man less, you cannot lose 5-1. It's disappointing," he said. "I know how this business works. I am not naive,"replied Kovac when asked about his future.
