#GamingBytes: Battlefield V 'Firestorm' Battle Royale gets delayed

    What's the story

'Battlefield V' got pushed back by a month and is releasing on November 20.

Developer DICE took to the official site to announce all the content, which would be made available post launch.

To the surprise of gamers, it informed that Battlefield's Battle Royale mode, Firestorm, would be arriving in March 2019.

Notably, this mode is being developed by Criterion.

    Read about it here.

    Post launch plans

All details of the post launch plans

According to DICE's post-launch plans, 'Firestorm' is the third chapter that will be added in the game.

'Overture', the first chapter, will be available two weeks after launch.

It will bring a tank-focused Panzerstorm map, besides, a new War Story titled The Last Tiger and vehicle customizations.

'Lightning Strike', to be added between January and March, will bring Squad Conquest and Combined Arms.

    Impact

How will this delay affect Battlefield V?

Though there was no formal commitment that 'Firestorm' would be available at the time of launch, yet news of the delay surprised several gamers.

Notably, a lot of people were excited to try out Battlefield's take on the Battle Royale genre since it hinted at the gameplay taking place on the largest Battlefield map, to date.

The delay is sure to negatively affect sales.

    Rationale

DICE looking to provide glitch-free experience

'Battlefield V' pushed back the release date to improve gameplay based on beta feedback and to avoid clashes with games like Treyarch's 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 4', which has its own Battle Royale titled Blackout, and Rockstar's 'Red Dead Redemption 2'.

Possibly, 'Firestorm' was delayed due to the desire to provide glitch-free gameplay experience, which Blackout has been unable to deliver, so far.

    Gaming and BR

Can Firestorm add anything new to Battle Royale?

Firestorm's delay might not hurt sales if it brings something new to this genre.

BR games have begun to stagnate in terms of groundbreaking features, although they enjoy immense popularity.

However, Firestorm sounds promising with only 64 players, compared to PUBG or Fortnite's 100, or Blackout's 88.

Further, unique Battlefield features like intense vehicular warfare including tanks, might set Firestorm apart.
