    What's the story

Serie A giants Inter Milan on Thursday roped in former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as the new permanent manager from the upcoming season.

Inter had sacked Luciano Spalletti on Wednesday. They announced his replacement barely 24 hours after.

Inter had finished on the fourth spot in the recently concluded season of Serie A, having failed to win a single silverware this term.

    Career

Conte: A successful manager in England and Italy

Considering Conte's managerial career, he has had quite a success, while his best tenure came in Italy and England.

While he was with Juventus from 2011-14, he had won three Serie A titles, with a win percentage of 67.5.

In England, he won a Premier League title in 2016-17, followed by the FA Cup title the following season, with a win percentage of 65.1.

    Quote

Have chosen Inter because of its history: Conte

"A new chapter in my life is beginning, I am really excited. I have chosen Inter because of its history. I was struck by the club's transparency and the desire to bring Inter back to where it belongs," Conte said following his appointment.

    Break

Conte took a year off last season

Conte has not been at the helm of a club for a year now. He was sacked by Chelsea last year, after a sub-par season.

Interestingly, Conte was being widely predicted as the ideal man to replace Spalletti.

While former manager Jose Mourinho, who won a treble with the club in 2010-11, was also among the potentials, Conte got the nod ahead of him.

    Next venture

Conte and Inter eye dominating start to their pre-season campaign

Now that Conte's future is set, he would look to start his business at Inter with some big transfers.

Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez are in the limelight of a potential transfer to Inter.

Inter's next commitment would be the four pre-season games against big clubs like United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Tottenham Hotspur, starting July 20.
