    What's the story

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has started investigations into the match-fixing complaints filed by debutants, Minerva Punjab.

According to reports, the club brought up the matter to the football governing body and stated that several of their players had been approached by bookies to fix matches.

The AIFF confirmed that the issue has been highlighted and that investigations are underway.

    The dirty picture

Minerva players were approached by bookies

Minerva Punjab's owner Ranjit Bajaj stated to the AIFF that two of their players were approached recently to fix games.

The unnamed footballers were offered a sum of Rs. 30 lakh for the same.

Bajaj also added that the players raised up the issue with screen shots of the offered sum.

Reportedly, at least five other players were also approached later on.

    Information

    What's next for the AIFF?

The AIFF will need to sort out the matter as soon as possible with the I-League coming to an end on Thursday, March 8. An AIFF integrity officer has been looking into the matter and will take necessary actions once they find the culprits.

    The big fight

I-League set for a thrilling finale

It is no wonder that Minerva players was approached by the bookies with the team likely to win the I-League title this season.

Minerva stay atop with 32 points and need a victory to lift the trophy.

But the race is still open with three other clubs still there in the mix.

Only two points separate the leaders from fourth placed East Bengal (30).
