    What's the story

Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi is planning to venture into the smart TV segment and its maiden offering could be a 70-inch model.

According to a recent leak, the company is working on two 4K TVs (to be first introduced in the Chinese market): 40-inch and 70-inch variants.

Meanwhile, the 70-inch variant has already received 3C certification.

    Here's all about Redmi's plans.

    From the grapevine

Everything we know about Redmi's upcoming TVs

According to tipster #MiFan Sudhanshu Ambhore, Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi will launch two smart TVs in China. The 70-inch model will have a model number L70M5-RA. There is also a smaller 40-inch variant with L40M5-FA model number.

As per the tip-off, both TVs will feature 4K UHD displays and share roughly the same specifications.

    Information

Prices of Redmi TVs will be low, claims leak

The tipster has said that the prices of these Redmi 4K smart TVs will be "very low". However, he has not shared any numbers to back his claim. It will be interesting to see if the new TVs are priced lower than the Mi TVs.

    Possibility

Also, these smart TVs may eventually come to India

Xiaomi will first introduce the Redmi TVs in China. However, we expect the company to bring them to India soon after the launch.

While there is no official information to back this claim, we expect the company to bring bigger TV models in India to take on Vu, TCL, and Thomson.

Presently, the biggest model offered by Xiaomi is the 55-inch Mi TV.

    Competition

Redmi smart TV to take on OnePlus TV?

Separately, OnePlus is also working to soon launch a premium flagship smart TV that is said to offer a total connected experience for homes.

Hence, it is possible that the Redmi smart TVs will offer a similar experience and take on OnePlus's debut offering in China as well as in India and other international markets.
