Warren Buffett finally ditches his flip phone for iPhone

    What's the story

Warren Buffett, better known as the 'Oracle of Omaha', is a world-famous business magnate, investing legend, and philanthropist.

The man sits among the richest in the world with an estimated net worth of more than $88 billion.

However, even with all that wealth, he never bothered to ditch his dated flip phone for a fancy smartphone in years.

Now, Buffett has finally given in!

    Flip phone

Buffett held on to Samsung flip phone for years

Even as the decade saw the world move towards smartphones, Buffett held on to his $20 Samsung Haven- a flip phone that debuted all the way back in 2010.

"This is the one Alexander Graham Bell gave me," the 89-year-old had joked earlier about his phone, adding that, "I don't throw anything away until I have had it 20 or 25 years."

    Change

Flip phone permanently gone, says Buffett

Buffett had his flip phone till 2019, but just recently, he told CNBC that the device is gone for good.

"My flip phone is permanently gone," he said while adding that he is finally embracing smartphones by using the latest iPhone.

He did not name the specific model in use but it is likely to be a member of the new iPhone 11 series.

    Use

Using only for basic 'phone' functions

Buffett further added that he has got the iPhone but is only using it for basic functions.

"I don't use all its facilities like most people- most people are living their lives around it," the billionaire said, adding that he mainly uses it as a 'phone'.

"You are looking at an 89-year-old guy who's barely beginning to be with it," Buffett emphasized.

    Gift

He didn't have to buy this device

In the same Apple-investor-warren-buffett-traded-in-his-flip-phone-for-an-iphone.html">interview, Buffett also said he didn't have to buy this iPhone as he has been gifted several of them by many people, including Apple's own boss Tim Cook.

To recall, Cook has been trying to get Buffett an Apple-made device for years. He had even told Buffett that he would personally fly out to Omaha and perform tech support for him.
