    What's the story

Truecaller, a prominent caller identity company, has launched 'Truecaller for the Web,' a web-based version of its service.

The new service provides features such as SMS and chat mirroring, call notifications, and number search capabilities.

Initially available exclusively to Android users in India, the company plans to expand this service to other regions in the future.

    Service details

Truecaller for the Web: Features and functionality

The web-based service allows Android users to link their devices to a PC or Mac via a QR code.

However, only one web client can be connected at a time.

There is also a 30-day time-out window for periods of inactivity on Truecaller for the Web.

Users have the option to manually disconnect a browser from settings if needed.

    Feature comparison

Truecaller's new feature is better than Microsoft's Phone Link functionality

While Microsoft already offers SMS and chat mirroring for Android and iPhone users through its Phone Link functionality, Truecaller's new feature could be advantageous for quickly responding to messages or viewing one-time passwords (OTPs) for login.

The existing number search function on Truecaller's site has some limitations, which can be bypassed when users connect their device to the new web client.
