Should you buy OnePlus 7 Pro or wait for 7T-series?

    What's the story

OnePlus is set to launch the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro smartphones in India sometime next month. Just recently, the standard model was leaked in high-quality renders while details about the Pro variant were tipped as well.

Hence, the big question is: Should you wait for the 7T Pro or buy its popular predecessor, the OnePlus 7 Pro?

    Let's find out.

    From the grapevine

Everything we know about OnePlus 7T Pro

According to reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus 7T Pro will look like its predecessor. However, internally, it would get the latest Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset and a 4,080mAh battery. It'll also debut Warp Charge 30T that is said to offer 100% charge in 65 minutes.

Further, OnePlus 7T Pro will also come with a new Macro mode, HEVC support, and Hybrid Image Stabilization.

    Factor #1

    OnePlus 7 Pro: Design

Now, let's discuss the incumbent OnePlus 7 Pro, in detail.

It offers a notch-less, bezel-less all-screen design achieved by adopting a pop-up selfie camera. This means, your videos and game graphics aren't hampered by display holes or cut-outs.

Further, the curved edges allow for better ergonomics while a metal-glass sandwiched body feels premium.

It also offers built-in liquid cooling and dual stereo speakers.

    Factor #2

One of the best displays on a smartphone

The pop-up camera has allowed OnePlus to stretch the display from edge-to-edge, with no interruptions whatsoever. The result is an immersive 6.67-inch screen with near 90% screen-to-body ratio.

The HDR10+ compatible display offers a 1440x3120 pixels resolution which makes texts and images crispier while the 90Hz refresh rate makes everything fluid and seamlessly smooth.

It's surely one of the best displays on a smartphone.

    Factor #3

    Smooth Android experience, speedy performance

OnePlus 7 Pro is crazy fast. Under the hood, you get the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with upto 12GB RAM and upto 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

And to make the most out of these top-tier internals, you have Android Pie-based Oxygen OS. It offers a great Android experience, some neat exclusive features, timely updates, and a bunch of nifty customizations.

    Factor #4

The best camera system on any OnePlus phone to date

Now, camera is one department where OnePlus phones have trailed the top-tier competitors. However, the OnePlus 7 Pro bridges that gap pretty well with its multi-autofocus triple-lens rear camera.

The 48MP main sensor, 8MP telephoto lens which offers 3x optical zoom, and the 16MP wide-angle lens, make it a truly versatile smartphone camera system.

Up front, you get a sharp 16MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper.

    Factor #5

    Battery and Biometrics

Under the hood, the OnePlus 7 Pro packs a large 4,000mAh battery that keeps you going all day despite the power-hungry 90Hz display.

And when you're low on charge, the 30W Speed Warp can give you a day's power in just 20 minutes.

Lastly, the improved and larger in-display fingerprint sensor might as well be the fastest biometric authentication on any smartphone to date.

    Viewpoint

Our verdict: Not enough changes coming on OnePlus 7T Pro

OnePlus 7T Pro will be nearly the same as OnePlus 7 Pro except for the slightly bumped processor and some new OS features that'll eventually come to the non-T variant via a software update.

Hence, if you're looking to buy a new phone, go for OnePlus 7 Pro for its amazing screen, modern design, respectable cameras, clean and fast software, and the unmatchable performance.
