You now have 15 minutes to edit posts on Threads

    What's the story

Threads, the popular social media platform, has extended its post-editing time limit from five to 15 minutes.

This change means that users who have enabled fediverse sharing, will need to wait for a quarter of an hour before their posts appear on Mastodon and other similar platforms.

The new editing window is relatively shorter compared to some other platforms, that offer up to an hour for post modifications.

    Differences

    Comparison with other platforms

Threads has upped its post-editing time limit, but some other platforms still have it beat.

For example, X lets you edit posts for up to an hour, but you need a subscription for that.

Meanwhile, Mastodon lets you edit your posts for free whenever you want after you publish them.

Now, Threads has made it easier to see who follows you and likes your posts from other fediverse servers like Mastodon.

    Improvements

    Threads enhances API

Threads has rolled out some cool new features to its application programming interface (API), which first hit the scene in June for developers working on third-party integrations and apps.

Now, when users whip up posts through the API, Threads can automatically spread the word to the broader fediverse.

This upgrade is all about boosting user engagement across different platforms.

    Enhancements

New features for improved user experience

Threads is rolling out some cool new features to make your experience even better. You can now easily attach links to your posts, get real-time notifications for replies, and even add alt text to your images and videos.
