No codes needed: PS5 update makes multiplayer invites a breeze

    What's the story

Sony has introduced a groundbreaking feature for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) aimed at simplifying the process of sending multiplayer game invites.

This tool allows users to send game invitations even when they are not physically present at a console or using the system of the PlayStation app.

The app generates a link that can be shared across various online platforms, enabling recipients to join a multiplayer session without needing to be friends on the platform.

    User experience

Streamlined gaming experience with Sony's new feature

This innovative feature is primarily designed to facilitate quick and effortless entry into games with individuals meeting online through social media, thereby eliminating the need for exchanging usernames or phone numbers.

Sony guarantees that users will be able to start playing together right away.

Alongside the link, the tool will also generate a QR code, a feature already familiar to PS5 owners in relation to multiplayer games.

    Restrictions

Sony's new feature comes with certain limitations

The new feature, set for release later this year, will only apply to PS5 games.

Sony has also indicated that some titles may require an update before this feature can operate seamlessly.

It's important to note that most PS5 games require a Plus subscription for multiplayer use, and these subscription costs saw a rise last year.

    Discord integration

Sony develops custom live widget for Discord

In conjunction with the new tool, Sony has developed a custom live widget for Discord.

When a link is shared through Discord, this widget automatically updates to show whether or not a multiplayer session is active, preventing users from joining an empty lobby.

Similar to the invite tool, this Discord widget is exclusively available for PS5 games.

    Profile sharing

Sony to launch PlayStation Network profile sharing tool

Sony is also developing another related tool that will allow users to share their PlayStation Network profile through the PlayStation app.

This feature is expected to function similarly to the new invite tool and is also scheduled for release later in the year.

This development further emphasizes Sony's commitment to enhancing user experience on its PS5 platform.
