JioHotstar launched: What happens to your JioCinema, Disney+ Hotstar subscriptions?

Just days after merging with Disney+ Hotstar, Reliance Jio has unveiled its new over-the-top (OTT) service, JioHotstar. IT is now available on Android, iOS, iPadOS, and smart TVs.
With the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, you may be wondering about the fate of your existing subscriptions to these platforms.
What happens if you still have autopay enabled for JioCinema or Disney+ Hotstar? Will you need new subscriptions for JioHotstar?

Subscription details
Free migration for JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar premium subscribers
Those having an active Disney+ Hotstar subscription will get a JioHotstar subscription automatically, with the duration of their current plan being carried over to the new service.
Likewise, active JioCinema subscribers will have their current monthly or annual subscriptions migrated to JioHotstar for the remaining duration of their plan.
Any benefits associated with your current plan will be carried over to JioHotstar.
Bundled plans
JioHotstar subscription extends to bundled plans
The free JioHotstar subscription also applies to those with an active Disney+ Hotstar or JioCinema (Premium) plan with their mobile or broadband connection.
To check if you are eligible for the free subscription, you can log into the JioHotstar app with your phone number or email address.
If you have an active plan for either service, the app will confirm it and provide details about its validity period.
Autopay cancelation
Jio discontinues autopay for existing subscriptions
As part of the transition to JioHotstar, Reliance Jio is also discontinuing the autopay feature for existing subscription plans.
This means, users won't be billed for JioCinema after their current plan expires. The same applies to Disney+ Hotstar users as well.
To continue enjoying content on the new platform, they'll have to subscribe to JioHotstar once their transferred subscription ends.
New service
JioHotstar's subscription plans start at ₹149 per month
JioHotstar currently offers three subscription plans: Mobile, Super, and Premium.
The Mobile plan is priced at ₹149 for three months or ₹499 for a year, providing 720p streaming on a single mobile device.
The Super plan, available at ₹299 for three months or ₹899 for a year, offers 1080p streaming on two devices with Dolby Atmos support.
The Premium plan, costing ₹299/month, ₹499 for three months, or ₹1,499/year, supports 4K streaming on up to four devices.
