    What's the story

    HMD Global is expected to introduce the recently launched Nokia X7 as Nokia 8.1 in the global markets.

    Interestingly, according to 91Mobiles, the company could launch Nokia 8.1 in India this month itself.

    The key highlights of the phone are its full-HD+ notched display, premium-looking glass body, up to 6GB RAM, Qualcomm's powerful Snapdragon 710 processor, and Android One support.

    Citing sources in the retail channels, 91Mobiles reports that HMD Global could launch the Nokia 8.1 in India on November 28. Moreover, the report adds that the phone is likely to be priced at Rs. 23,999 in India.

    Nokia 8.1: At a glance

    If the Nokia 8.1 comes as a rebranded version of Nokia X7, it will sport a notched display with a slim yet prominent bottom bezel.

    On the back, the phone will feature a dual-rear camera setup and a fingerprint scanner housed in glass chassis.

    Further, Nokia 8.1 will get a 6.18-inch (1080x2246 pixels) full-HD+ display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio.

    On the back, like the Nokia X7, Nokia 8.1 will sport a ZEISS optics-based dual camera setup comprising a 12-MP (f/1.8) primary sensor with 1.4-micron pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and OIS, paired with a 13-MP secondary sensor with fixed focus.

    Up front, the phone will get a single 20-MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 1.8-micron pixels, fixed focus, and AI-powered image enhancing features.

    Nokia 8.1 will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, paired with Adreno 616 GPU, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage (expandable up to 400GB).

    Further, the phone will pack a 3,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging and runs stock Android Oreo 8.1 as part of the Android One program that promises at least two years of software updates.

    Connectivity options and sensors onboard Nokia 8.1

    In terms of connectivity, the phone will support dual-SIM cards, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c with VoWiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, FM radio, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard Nokia 8.1 will include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, and gyroscope.

    Pricing of Nokia X7 in China

    For comparison, Nokia X7 costs CNY 1,699 (approx. Rs. 18,000) for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model, CNY 1,999 (approx. Rs. 21,200) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage option, and CNY 2,499 (approx. Rs. 26,500) for the 6GB RAM/128GB variant.

    Nokia X7 comes in Dark Blue, Night Red, Night Black, and Magic Night Silver colors and we should see Nokia 8.1 sporting these finishes.
