Warning! Netflix users beware of this new phishing scam email
What's the story
Netflix users have become the target of cyberattack as another scam email has been sent to them informing that their account has been suspended temporarily and they need to update their billing information in order to unlock their account.
A warning has been issued regarding this.
Notably, similar phishing emails asking to update billing information were sent to the users last month as well.

Email asks users to update billing, payment information
A scam email has hit the accounts of some Netflix users recently and it says that their account has been temporarily suspended due to some issues in the "automatic verification process".
Thus, to unlock the account, the users have been asked to update their billing information, which means they have to fill the details of their payment method, credit/debit cards, etc.

Email provides link to fake Netflix page for filling information
The email provides a set of instructions to update the details.
The steps include clicking on a link which will land you on a phishing page, designed to look exactly like Netflix's.
You'll be required to login through your Netflix account, update your billing and payment information.
Needless to say, you'll be at risk of having your identity stolen and your bank account cleared.
Errors
Email has grammatical, spelling mistakes such as boldened "suspeneded"
MailGuard, an email security service which detects and blocks criminal intent emails, spotted the Netflix phishing email and released a statement telling users to be alert.
The statement also pointed out how the scam email has many spelling and grammatical errors such as a boldened "suspeneded", and users should look out for them.
"Spacing errors were also present throughout the email," the statement read.
Measures
'Netflix employs numerous proactive measures to detect fraudulent activity'
A spokesperson from the streaming giant told media, "We take the security of our members' accounts seriously and Netflix employs numerous proactive measures to detect fraudulent activity to keep the Netflix service and our members' accounts secure."
He added that users who want to learn how to keep their Netflix personal information safe from scams can go to netflix.com/security or contact customer service directly.
Past incident
Fraudsters tried phishing scam previously in December 2018 too
Last month, fraudsters had sent fake emails claiming to be from Netflix to steal payment details of users.
The US Federal Trade Commission issued a warning related to this.
It was pretty similar to the recent phishing email saying that there were some troubles with current billing information, which the users need to update by clicking on a link of a fake Netflix page.

What to do if already entered details?
If you've already entered details on a phishing page, go and change passwords for the account in question, be it Netflix or any other service.
Also, change passwords for all other sites you used the same email and password combination because they could also be at risk.
And, if you entered payment information, immediately contact your bank to block your cards and prevent transactions.
