    What's the story

X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform owned by tech mogul Elon Musk, is dealing with a major global outage. The disruption is the third of the day, according to Downdetector.

The first issue was detected around 3:30pm IST, followed by another spike at 7:00pm IST and a third one at 8:44pm IST.

Users from major countries including the US, India, the UK, Australia, and Canada have reported issues accessing both the app and website across regions.

    User impact

    Over 40,000 global complaints registered

According to Downdetector's data, more than 40,000 users across the globe have reported service interruptions. Most of the complaints (56%) are related to the app itself.

The website-related issues account for 33% while server connection troubles make up another 11%.

The app has prevented users from posting or viewing tweets as well as logging into their accounts.

Despite the widespread disruptions, X has yet to acknowledge the issue or explain these service interruptions.

    User reactions

Users express frustration on competitor platform Threads

While some regions are seeing partial restoration of services, many users still find the platform inaccessible.

The widespread outage has frustrated users, many of whom took to Threads, a competitor platform owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

"Twitter was down for like 30 minutes and I felt my world collapsing," one user wrote. "X is down. Congratulations to Threads on millions of new users today," another user stated.
