    Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed that the company's Ray-Ban smart glasses have crossed the one million mark in sales in 2024.

    The milestone was shared for the first time during an internal meeting.

    Zuckerberg also shared his vision for the product's future, wondering if the sales could even go up to five million units this year.

    During the meeting, Zuckerberg raised a question regarding the future sales trajectory of the smart glasses.

    "I think one of the questions for us is, are we going to go from one million this year to two million? Are we going to go from one million to five million?" he asked.

    Ray-Ban smart glasses: A look at the features

    Since their 2023 launch, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have been receiving a steady stream of new features.

    These include a multimodal AI capable of processing visuals, auditory, and textual information, as well as live AI translations.

    Zuckerberg emphasized these advancements during his interaction with employees.

    Dominance and future plans in wearable tech

    Zuckerberg stressed on Meta's first-mover advantage in the smart glasses space, saying "we basically invented the category and our competitors haven't really shown up yet."

    He also said that they might show up later this year or next.

    Nevertheless, he pushed his team to capitalize on the opportunity now to get as many people as possible acquainted with Meta AI glasses.

    Meta's upcoming projects in wearable technology

    Looking ahead, Meta intends to expand its footprint in the wearable tech space this year.

    The company is said to be working on a new pair of smart glasses with a heads-up display, codenamed Hypernova.

    A Bloomberg report also claims that Meta is working with Oakley on another smart glasses project, which is expected to launch later this year.
