    What's the story

MediaTek is preparing to launch its most advanced chipset yet, the Dimensity 9400 platform.

This new platform will feature the latest Arm core and Immortalis G925 GPU.

According to MediaTek, this combination will provide industry-leading efficiency and graphics processing power.

Recent test data from Digital Chat Station has revealed impressive performance metrics for the Dimensity 9400's GPU, surpassing scores of Apple and Qualcomm's flagship chipsets.

    Performance supremacy

GPU performance 86% better than Apple A18 Pro

The Dimensity 9400's GPU achieved a remarkable 134fps in the GFX Aztec 1440P off-screen Vulkan benchmark.

This result is an impressive 86% improvement over Apple's A18 Pro (72fps) and a significant 41% better than Qualcomm's Snapdragon Gen 3 (95fps).

The GFXBench suite, which includes the Aztec test, is designed to simulate an intensive 3D game-like environment and push graphics hardware to its limits.

    Tech specs

    Advanced CPU and GPU

The Dimensity 9400 is powered by a 3.63GHz Arm Cortex-X925 mega core, and its new Immortalis G925 MC12 GPU is a significant upgrade.

The GPU will introduce new ray-tracing technology for mobile devices.

Arm has described the Immortalis G925 as their highest performing and most efficient GPU to date, offering substantial improvements in graphics application performance, ray tracing performance, and AI and machine learning workloads.

    Upcoming release

MediaTek's chip to launch next month

The Dimensity 9400 flagship processor is expected to be unveiled in October 2024, coinciding with Qualcomm's launch of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 at the Snapdragon Summit.

This timing sets up an interesting comparison between these two next-gen processors.

However, the ultimate performance of a chipset depends on how well it is integrated by the phone manufacturer into their devices.
