End of era? HMD pulls Nokia smartphones from European markets

    What's the story

HMD Global, the company behind Nokia-branded smartphones, has reportedly stopped selling these devices in Europe.

This comes after HMD's earlier decision to rebrand its image and concentrate on its own products.

Even with this shift, the company had kept marketing Nokia-branded smartphones, feature phones, and tablets for a while.

But now, it looks like they've run out of stock for these devices in Europe.

    Global availability

Devices still available in other regions

Despite being pulled out of Europe, Nokia-branded devices are still up for grabs on HMD's official websites in regions like Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America.

It's rumored that these might also disappear from shelves eventually. But hey, HMD Global hasn't said anything officially yet!

    Ongoing support

HMD Global continues software support for Nokia phones

Despite Nokia-branded devices being out of the picture in Europe, HMD Global hasn't completely given up on them. Their support page still features these old-timers.

The company has promised to keep giving software support for both its smart and feature phones.

However, it's a bit fuzzy how long this support will stick around, especially with all the recent product availability changes in various regions.

    Industry presence

Nokia Corporation remains a major player

Despite all the changes in smartphone branding and distribution, Nokia Corporation is still a big name in the network infrastructure game.

Plus, the company's one of the largest patent holders in the tech world.

They've even had their fair share of legal battles with major smartphone brands like Apple, Samsung, and the BBK group.

So, while Nokia's smartphone presence might be shifting, their influence in the overall tech scene is still going strong.
