'It's scary smart': Musk says Grok 3 AI coming soon

    What's the story

Elon Musk has revealed that his company xAI is on the cusp of launching a new AI model, called Grok 3.

Speaking during a video conference at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Musk touted the new chatbot as "scary smart" and better than any existing models.

Grok 3's imminent release coincides with DeepSeek's groundbreaking AI training achievements and OpenAI's shift toward unified models like GPT-5 expected to release in the coming months.

    AI advancement

    Grok 3's unique learning capabilities

Grok 3 has been trained on synthetic data, as per Musk. Synthetic data is artificially generated data that mimics real data but doesn't contain any personally identifiable information.

The AI model can also learn from its mistakes by going back to the data and achieve logical consistency.

"We're really in the final stages of polishing Grok 3 and probably it gets released in about a week or two; so pretty soon," Musk said during today's call.

    AI debate

Musk's critique of OpenAI and future plans

In the same conference, Musk slammed OpenAI, the company he co-founded with Sam Altman in 2015 as a non-profit. He is now readying an unsolicited $97.4 billion bid for the firm.

"OpenAI is meant to be open source, non profit and now they changed the name to closed for maximum profit AI," Musk told the audience at the summit.

The statement is indicative of his continued disagreement with Altman over OpenAI's transition into a for-profit business.

    Tech influence

Musk's role in US government efficiency

Musk, who heads Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, is at the forefront of modernizing federal tech and finding areas to cut spending.

He has been key in scrapping billions of dollars worth of programs and contracts.

Although it didn't meet its lofty goals, a voluntary resignation program started by Musk has seen nearly 3% of the government's civilian workforce resign.

"We need to spend less money and get better results," Musk said at the conference.
