    What's the story

As part of Gmail's latest redesign, Google has added a new productivity application in its G-Suite called Tasks.

While Tasks as a function was already supported (read buried) in Gmail, it has now gotten greater visibility in the form of a dedicated G-Suite element and a stand-alone mobile application.

In the new Gmail, Tasks sits along Keep and Calendar on the collapsible right-hand side-panel.

    Details

The fairly standard Google Tasks app

Google Tasks is a simple and standard to-do app. It allows users to create, view, and edit task lists and to-dos.

While managing your tasks in the app, you can also break them down into sub-tasks.

You can set a "due date" as reminders on specific tasks and prioritize them with the help of a drag-and-drop interface.

    USP

Tasks syncs across all your devices

Google Tasks syncs tasks created in the new Gmail, the Google Calendar, and the Tasks app.

This integration allows users to access their tasks from across devices and on-the-go.

You can make changes to a task in the app and it will reflect back in the Gmail inbox and you can also trace a task back to its source e-mail through the Google Calendar.

Gmail's mobile app gets high-priority notifications, one-tap unsubscribe prompt

Gmail's mobile app has added a high-priority notifications feature, under which Google's AI algorithm will intelligently select only the most important e-mails to alert the user about. This has "cut 97% of e-mail notifications for users."

Another addition is the one-tap unsubscribe prompt in which Gmail will ask if you want to unsubscribe from newsletters/offers you haven't opened in weeks.
