Google just found a 'shortcut' to link Assistant with Siri
What's the story
Siri, as we all know, is the primary smart Assistant for iOS.
It is so well integrated with the platform that there is hardly any room for other digital assistants to take over, including the one from Google.
But, the search giant is also not giving up and has taken a 'shortcut' to link Assistant with Siri.
Here's what we mean.
Google's move
Google turns to Siri Shortcuts
With iOS 12, Apple introduced a feature called Siri Shortcuts, where a single Siri command can trigger a set of pre-defined actions.
The feature has been leveraged in many ways, but in this case, Google has pushed an update to introduce Assistant support for Siri Shortcuts.
This means Siri can now be called to trigger Google Assistant. Wow!
Working
How this would work?
Once you've updated the Google Assistant app on your iOS device, you can program the "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" shortcut into Siri.
Then, you'd be able to launch the Assistant directly by calling out "Hey Siri, Hey Google" or "Hey Siri, Ok Google."
Though that sounds a bit odd, the feature could prove useful for those who find Google Assistant better than Siri.

Also, you can activate Google Assistant routines
In addition to this, iOS users can use the same command to talk with Assistant or to trigger their smart home routines.
For instance, you can wake up Siri and then say "Hey Google, I'm leaving" to make sure all your smart home alliances are turned off as you leave.
Just note that the phone should be unlocked when the command is being given.
