Musicians can now directly post updates to Google Search

    What's the story

Google is allowing musicians to post updates about themselves directly in Google Search.

This is an expansion of the Posts on Google feature that the tech giant has been rolling out over the last few years since 2016.

Under this, celebrities, big companies and even local businesses in some geographies are featured in an easy-to-consume manner on Google Search.

    Background

Google pops up information cards on musicians inside search results

This means that on searching for Taylor Swift, the tech giant comes up with a set of cards or a 'Knowledge Panel' that features primary information about her like biography, songs, albums, YouTube videos, official website, images, official social media profiles, and related musicians.

This is then followed by regular Google Search results like her Wikipedia page.

    Details

Google allows musicians to add customize posts to search results

Now along with all the above-mentioned automatically generated content, musicians like her would be able to post their own images, videos, GIFs, and text to their Knowledge Panels and customize the same to suit their selves.

Musicians who already have a Knowledge Panel on Google Search can sign up at the Posts on Google website and start customizing their cards.

    Information

The new feature also incorporates Twitter-like blue ticks

The cards that pop up under the Posts on Google Feature on searching for famous people will also feature Twitter-like verified blue ticks. This will let users know that the customized posts and updates are from the artist themselves.
