    What's the story

Italian supercar maker Ferrari has unveiled its first production plug-in hybrid car, the SF90 Stradale.

Named after the company's famed motorsport division Scuderia Ferrari, the supercar offers a mammoth power of 986bhp, thanks to its petrol-electric powertrain.

Notably, the SF90 Stradale can hit 0-100kmph in just 2.5 seconds, making it Ferrari's fastest road car produced till date.

    Here's our roundup.

    Design

Made like a race car, but for the road

The SF90 Stradale retains the iconic Ferrari design with a sharp-looking aerodynamic hood, bubble-shaped cabin, and a larger rear flying buttresses.

The C-shaped LED headlights are integrated into the brake air intakes while the central-mounted exhaust pipes are placed much higher.

However, the highlight bodywork is the 'shut-off Gurney', a mobile portion of the rear spoiler which generates 390kg of downforce at 250kph.

    Interiors

    Inside the cabin

The interiors on the S90 Stradale are a refined blend of classic touches and advanced technologies. The supercar offers a new keyless entry system and push buttons to open the doors from the inside while still retaining the iconic H-gate gear lever.

The dashboard sports a new 16-inch curved digital instrument cluster along with touch-sensitive buttons on the redesigned control-oriented steering wheel.

    Engine and power

    Under the hood

The SF90 Stradale, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, is powered by a 4-liter, 769bhp turbo V8 petrol engine and a trio of electric motors (217bhp effective horsepower).

The petrol-electric combination offers an enormous power of 986bhp, allowing the car to do 0-100kmph in just 2.5 seconds.

In the electric-only mode, the SF90 Stradale offers a 25.7km range at speeds of upto 135kph.

    Pricing and availability

    For the select few

Ferrari hasn't yet revealed the pricing or availability details for the SF90 Stradale. However, as the company's most-advanced offering till date, you will have to shell out some millions of dollars to own the car.

Reports suggest that some 2,000 customers were invited to see the car and "most have already ordered one."

Meanwhile, the deliveries are tipped to commence in 2020.
