    What's the story

WhatsApp has announced a series of new features designed to enhance user experience during video calls.

The platform now offers filters and backgrounds that users can customize according to their preferences.

These updates aim to make video calling not just functional, but also expressive and enjoyable.

    Filter feature

Artistic filters: A new way to express yourself

One of the key features introduced by WhatsApp is the use of filters. These allow users to add artistic effects to their videos, such as a splash of color or a unique style.

The platform offers 10 filter options including Warm, Cool, Black & White, Dreamy, Prism light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted glass and Duo tone.

Each filter is designed to set a different mood for the conversation.

    Background feature

Customizable backgrounds: Enhancing privacy and style

In addition to filters, WhatsApp has also introduced customizable backgrounds for video calls.

This feature allows users to change their background during a call, offering an element of privacy by concealing their actual surroundings.

Users can choose from 10 different backgrounds including Blur, Living room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset Celebration and Forest.

    Extra enhancements

Additional features: Touch up and low light

WhatsApp has also rolled out a 'Touch up' feature that smooths out user appearance for a more polished look during video calls.

Additionally, a 'Low Light' option is available to enhance brightness in dim settings, ensuring clear and vibrant video quality regardless of the environment.

These features are designed to boost user confidence during calls.

    Usage guide

How to use these new features?

To utilize these new features during a video call, users need to tap the effects icon on the top right of the screen and browse through the available options.

These effects can be applied in both one-on-one calls and group video chats.

The updates are set to roll out to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks, promising a more personalized and enjoyable video calling experience for everyone.
