This upcoming Play Store feature will automatically open installed apps

    What's the story

Google is developing a new feature to improve the app installation process for Android users, from the Play Store.

This feature, known as 'auto-open,' will automatically launch apps on an Android device, once they are installed from the Store.

This eliminates the need for users to manually search for newly installed apps on their devices.

The information was revealed by Android Authority and tipster Assemble Debug, following an APK teardown of the Google Play Store app version 42.5.15.

    Functionality

    How does the feature work?

The 'auto-open' feature is activated through an option labeled "Automatically open after install," located below the "Install" button on the Google Play Store.

Once an app's download and installation are complete, this feature triggers the app to open automatically.

A video demonstration shows a five-second countdown timer in the notification drawer, before the automatic launch of the app.

However, users have control over this feature and can choose to disable it if they prefer not to use it.

    Concurrent downloads

    Simultaneous downloads now allowed

In addition to the 'auto-open' feature, the Google Play Store has also introduced a functionality that allows up to three apps or app updates to be downloaded simultaneously on Android smartphones.

This feature was first introduced in April, allowing two concurrent downloads. Now, it has been expanded to accommodate three simultaneous downloads or updates.

This feature is currently accessible to Android users in India.
