Apple's 2018 iPad Pro will get iPhone X-like design: Reports

    What's the story

Apple's upcoming iPad Pro will feature slightly smaller and thinner body and will not come with a headphone jack, according to Japanese site Macotakara.

This also means, though the new iPads will be smaller in size, they will feature larger displays thanks to the shaving off bezels around all four sides.

    Here's more on this development.

    The iPhone X way

2018 iPads will also get a new design language

The current iPad Pro line-up has two models (12.9-inch and 10.5-inch) with thick bezels around all sides and a Touch ID-based home button on the bottom.

However, with the upcoming models, Apple may be opting for an iPhone X-like design (but without the notch).

Moreover, 2018 iPad Pro will adopt Face ID, but it will reportedly work only in portrait mode.

    Details

Macotakara has leaked the sizing of new iPad Pro models

    According to Macotakara, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, which currently measures at 250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1 millimeters, will shave down to 247.5 x 178.7 x 6 mm.

Likewise, the larger 12.9-inch model is said to reduce down to 280 x 215 x 6.4 mm from the current dimensions of 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9 mm.

But, Apple is unlikely to change the display sizes.

    Information

    Bye bye, 3.5mm headphone jack

According to Macotakara, the 2018 iPad Pro models will not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack. This means, users will have to use Lighting-based audio input or rely on Bluetooth devices such as Apple's AirPods for audio streaming.
