    What's the story

Apple has recently patented a keyboard in the form of a full OLED display.

Earlier with the redesign of its MacBook Pro, the company had replaced the function keys at the top of the keyboard with a small OLED display called the Touch Bar.

The latest patent seems like an extension of the same idea. Here is more on it.

    Twitter Post

The Touch Bar wasn't exactly met with positive feedback

Apple, 2019: “We’d like to introduce the MacBook Pro 2. We’ve heard your feedback, and have replaced the entire keyboard with touchbars.”

    — Chaim Gartenberg (@cgartenberg) January 4, 2018

    Details

The touch keyboard can come as an additional accessory

Technically, the patent has been filed for a "dual display equipment with enhanced visibility and suppressed reflections."

According to the patent, the final product can be designed in two ways. The first version is nearer to a traditional MacBook, which will have two screens connected by a hinge.

The second version describes the keyboard screen as an additional accessory for an iPad-like device.

    Information

Polarizers will minimize screen reflections onto each other

Should the patent ever materialize, Apple plans to include polarizers in the device that will help minimize reflections from the two screens onto each other. With this, the company has actually put to rest questions regarding the Touch Bar being converted into an entire keyboard.
