    What's the story

Apple CEO Tim Cook has sparked anticipation with a post on X, hinting at a special product launch scheduled for February 19.

The announcement came with a short video featuring the Apple logo in silver and the words: "Get ready to meet the newest member of the family. Wednesday, February 19."

Though the upcoming launch isn't a full-scale 'event' but a single product introduction, speculations are rife that the new product could be the all-new iPhone SE 4.

    Anticipated specifications

iPhone SE 4: A look at the expected features

The iPhone SE 4 will look like the iPhone 14, featuring a larger screen with notch and Face ID, marking an end to the iconic home button.

The animation in Cook's post also subtly teases the death of the home button—a signature feature introduced by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in 2007.

The handset will sport a 60Hz OLED display, an A18 chip, a USB-C charging port, 8GB of RAM, a single 48MP rear camera and Apple's new 5G modem.

    Alternative launches

Other potential products for February 19 launch

While the iPhone SE 4 is a strong contender for the February 19 launch, other potential products include the M4 MacBook Air, an M3 iPad Air, and a new 11th generation base model iPad.

The video's halo around the Apple logo has led to speculations about updates to the AirTag product as well.

However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman believes that these theories are unlikely and maintains his prediction about the iPhone SE 4 being unveiled.

    Future plans

Apple's product roadmap for the 1st half of 2025

Beyond the new iPhone, Apple has a lot on its plate for the first half of 2025.

The company plans to release a MacBook Air powered by the new M4 chip and refresh its low-end iPad and iPad Air models.

Apple is also working on its first smart home hub with a display, a new AirTag tracking device, and pro-level desktop computers.

As per tradition, fresh iPhone and Apple Watch models are expected in fall.
