IFA 2019: Amazon unveils faster, new Fire TV Cube

    What's the story

IFA 2019 is set to kick-off in a few hours but tech giants have already started unveiling fancy products.

ASUS recently unveiled a new line of phones and laptops, and now, Amazon has refreshed select members of its Fire TV family, including the famous Fire TV Cube streaming device.

It is now faster and more capable than the previous version.

    Here's all about it.

    Improvement

Same looks but four times faster than before

The 2nd generation of Fire TV Cube looks similar to the first one but there are plenty of under-the-hood upgrades that account for a major boost in speed and processing.

First up, the company says, the device is four times faster than the previous version and runs on a powerful new hexa core processor.

Then, there are improvements in voice command processing.

    Voice control

Local Voice Control, far-field mics for faster command processing

Along with enhanced processing capabilities, the new Fire TV Cube boasts of Local Voice Control, allowing the device to handle voice commands locally.

The feature works without connecting to a powerful Amazon server and ensures commands are processed without taking a lot of time.

Notably, the device also offers far-field microphones, which would come handy when you're voice-controlling the device in a busy room.

    Other features

Plus, there is support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision

Among other things, the new Fire TV Cube brings support for 4k UltraHD as well as HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.

The upgrades make the device an ideal mix of Fire TV stick and Echo Dot speaker, one that provides the ability to stream content, search, or control smart home devices seamlessly through voice commands.

    Prices

    Prices also remain unchanged

Having said that, the best thing about Fire TV Cube continues to be its price.

The upgraded device retains the price of the first-generation Cube and will be shipping in the US at $120.

There is no word on the India release of the device but Amazon has confirmed it will be available in the UK, Canada, Germany, and Japan in the near future.
