    What's the story

Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid has pledged to fight Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Naya Kashmir" narrative and prioritize the welfare of his people.

He walked out of Tihar Jail on Wednesday after receiving interim bail until October 2 to campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

Rashid had been in jail since 2019 after he was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a 2017 terror funding case.

    Post-release statement

Rashid's pledge to oppose 'Naya Kashmir' narrative

Following his release, Rashid said, "I will not let down my people. People have rejected whatever he did on 5th August 2019 (abrogation of Article 370)."

"I am a victim of BJP, I will fight against PM Modi's ideology till my last breath...I am coming to Kashmir to unite my people, not to divide them."

Earlier this year, he defeated former Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah in the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency.
