No nostalgia for Tendulkar, Rekha: They were 'forever absent'

    What's the story

The curtains were drawn on the careers of many Rajya Sabha MPs, Sachin Tendulkar and Rekha included. Only for these celebrities, leaving the Parliament wouldn't have been nostalgic as they rarely attended sessions.

Keeping up with their dismal attendance record, Tendulkar and Rekha did not even attend their farewell in the House on Wednesday.

    Do you know?

Congress nominated them for political gains, AAP had accused

After Tendulkar and Rekha's continuous absentism from the Upper House, AAP had said the Congress nominated them for political gains. AAP leader Sanjay Singh had said, "Their nomination in the Rajya Sabha completely turned out to be useless."

    Wasted opportunity

Looking back at the 'futile' parliamentary careers of Rekha, Tendulkar

Out of 400 parliamentary sessions, Sachin Tendulkar attended only 29 since his appointment as Rajya Sabha MP in April 2012. He asked 22 questions and didn't introduce a single bill.

Rekha, was even worse, so to say. She attended only 18 sessions, neither asked any questions nor introduced any bills.

Sachin and Rekha's attendance record was 7.3% and 4.5% respectively.

    Some good was done

How they utilized their funds as Rajya Sabha MPs

Tendulkar and Rekha's ignorance for their duties received ire from MPs. SP leader Naresh Aggarwal had even asked for their resignations.

Every Rajya Sabha MP gets Rs. 5 crore annually which they can use for development of any area they want.

After facing ire, these two celebrities started utilizing the funds. Sachin adopted two villages, and Rekha donated money for a school's construction.
