    What's the story

On Tuesday, poll strategist Prashant Kishor was appointed the Vice President of JD(U) by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, making him the second most powerful person in the party.

KC Tyagi, the spokesman of JD(U), said this elevation of Kishor will help the party reach out to social segments outside the traditional voter-base.

Kishor, said to be close to Kumar, joined JD(U) in September.

    Career

Kishor's strategies led to BJP's historic win in 2014

Kishor, who hails from Buxar in Bihar, shot to fame after his strategies in the 2014 elections handed BJP its best-ever electoral win, which led to Narendra Modi becoming the Prime Minister.

Further, it was Kishor who helped Kumar return to power in Bihar for the third consecutive time.

About his new innings as a politician, Kishor had tweeted he was excited about it.

    Hints

Kishor hinted about returning to 'roots'

Before joining JD(U), Kishor had dropped hints about his plunge. At an event in Hyderabad, he had said he won't campaign for anyone but would like to return to his 'roots'.

"In 2019, you would not see Prashant Kishor campaigning for anyone in the manner and form in which I have been campaigning in last 4-5 years," he had said.

    Details

Recently, Kishor said BJP would win if elections happened today

Recently, Kishor, the founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), said that if elections were to happen today BJP would lead but didn't predict who would come to power next year.

"The BJP is the party to defeat. They are still in lead position. I do not have a prediction to make," Kishor had told Barkha Dutt in an interaction.
