Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that party leader Sam Pitroda "should be ashamed of himself" for the remarks he made on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots last week.
Reiterating his stand on Pitroda's controversial "hua to hua" remarks on the 1984 riots, Rahul also said the Congress leader was "absolutely wrong" adding he should seek an apology from the entire nation.

What Sam Pitroda said was totally wrong: Rahul
"What Sam Pitroda said about 1984 (anti-Sikh riots) was totally wrong...he should seek an apology from the country," said Rahul while addressing an election rally in Punjab's Khanna.
"I am saying this publicly...I also said the same to him over the phone. Pitroda ji, what you had said was completely wrong...you should be ashamed of yourself. You should seek a public apology," he added.

Pitroda later apologized for his comments on 1984 anti-Sikh riots
Last week, Pitroda triggered criticism when he said, "Hua to hua (what happened has happened)," in an attempt to dismiss questions on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
He later apologized for his remarks after the Congress distanced itself from Pitroda's comments; the party also warned all of its leaders to be careful.
Congress leader and Punjab CM Amarinder Singh termed his remarks as "shocking".

"What I meant was move on. We have other issues to discuss as to what the BJP government did and what it delivered. I feel sorry that my remark was misrepresented, I apologize. This has been blown out of proportion," Pitroda earlier told ANI.

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi attacked the Congress over Pitroda's remarks, saying that his comments show the party's "character and mentality".
He said the Congress leader's comments reflect the opposition party's arrogance.
Following Pitroda's remarks, the BJP has stepped up its offensive against the Congress party as the 1984 anti-Sikh riots are an emotive subject for Punjab that goes to polls on 19 May.
