'Security concerns...': Sanjay Singh says Kejriwal will vacate official residence

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will vacate his official residence in the Civil Lines area of the national capital within a week, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh announced on Wednesday.
Kejriwal resigned from his position on Tuesday, just days after being released on bail from Tihar Jail in connection with the excise policy scam.
AAP leader Atishi is set to take over as the new Delhi CM.

'CM house necessary from security point of view...': Singh
Singh said AAP leaders tried to persuade Kejriwal to remain in his official residence due to security concerns.
However, Kejriwal has insisted on moving out.
"Kejriwal has decided that he will vacate his house (CM residence) within a week. There are concerns over his security, there have been several attacks on him. We tried to make him understand...this house was necessary from a security point of view. However, he decided that God will protect him," Singh told news agency PTI.

Kejriwal tenders resignation
On Tuesday evening, Kejriwal met Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to submit his resignation and recommend Atishi as his successor.
Former deputy Manish Sisodia, also out on bail and implicated in the same case, accompanied him.
Earlier, Atishi was unanimously chosen as the leader of the AAP legislative party, set to replace Kejriwal until the February Assembly elections.
However, Kejriwal has called for an early election, potentially as soon as next month.
