    What's the story

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over its performance in the Delhi Assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form a government in Delhi after 27 years, leading with 48 seats.

The AAP is leading on 22 seats and Congress has failed to win any seats for the third consecutive time.

    Criticism details

Maliwal attributes AAP's loss to multiple issues

Maliwal blamed the AAP for its loss on problems like water and air pollution, bad infrastructure, and absence of basic amenities.

"God punishes those who commit crime against woman," she said in an apparent reference to her alleged assault by Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar last year.

In her complaint, she alleged that Kumar slapped her multiple times, kicked her, and attempted to disrobe her during an encounter at the CM's residence.

    Victory celebration

BJP celebrates anticipated victory in Delhi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined in the celebrations, announcing the end of AAP's "rule of lies" while heralding the dawn of a new era of development in Delhi.

Heartfelt gratitude to the people of Delhi for this massive mandate. Under the leadership of Modi ji, BJP is determined to fulfill all its promises and make Delhi the number-1 capital of the world," Amit Shah said.

    Defeat reasons

BJP MP attributes AAP's defeat to 'inaction and corruption'

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari blamed AAP's "inaction and corruption" for their defeat, adding voters have turned away from them.

He also spoke about Congress's performance, saying they are worried about their future but won't be able to make ground anytime soon.

The 70-member Assembly went to polls on February 5 and recorded a voter turnout of 60.54%.

    Election results

Key victories and concessions in Delhi Assembly elections

Key victories for the BJP include seats in Shalimar Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Tri Nagar, Rajinder Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Greater Kailash, Patparganj, and Gandhi Nagar.

Meanwhile, AAP won in Kondli, Delhi Cantt, Sultanpur Majra Sadar Bazar Chandani Chowk Ballimaran Tilak Nagar Tughlaqabad Babarpur.

AAP candidate Manish Sisodia conceded defeat to BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah but acknowledged strong support from his constituents.
