    What's the story

Arvind Kejriwal scripted history on Tuesday when his party, the Aam Aadmi Party, took a lead in 63 out of 70 Assembly seats, completely decimating BJP and Congress.

With this, Kejriwal is all poised to return to CM chair for a third consecutive time.

Riding high on victory, he addressed party workers in Delhi and said Lord Hanuman has blessed Delhi.

    Details

Delhi's residents voted for their son: Kejriwal

A smiling Kejriwal greeted workers at the party headquarters as his wife Sunita stood next to him.

Kejriwal said, "I thank people of Delhi for reposing their faith in AAP for the third time. This the victory of the people who consider me as their son and voted for us."

His first stint as the CM lasted only 49 days.

    Quote

For historic win, Kejriwal credited Lord Hanuman

"This is the day of Lord Hanuman who has blessed the people of Delhi. We pray that Hanuman Ji keeps showing the right path to us so that we continue to serve people for the next five years," he went on.

    Politics over Hanuman

Kejriwal's temple run miffed BJP, he expressed surprise

By referring to Lord Hanuman, Kejriwal took an apparent dig at BJP, whose leaders berated him last week.

After the AAP leader visited the famed Lord Hanuman temple in Connaught Place, BJP Delhi Unit Chief Manoj Tiwari claimed he "soiled" the worshipping place by touching the idol with the same hands with which he removed shoes.

Kejriwal questioned BJP's obsession with his temple run.

New BJP President JP Nadda accepted defeat

Notably, BJP failed to break its Delhi jinx and didn't seize power in the national capital, meaning that its incessant campaign failed to connect with the voters.

Accepting defeat, BJP President JP Nadda tweeted, "BJP accepts this mandate and will fulfill its duties as the opposition party in the legislative Assembly."

This is the first state election that BJP lost after Nadda assumed office.

    Twitter Post

I congratulate Arvind Kejriwal and his party: Nadda
