Akhilesh Yadav, on way to Auraiya protest, detained
What's the story
Samajwadi Party leader and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav was detained in Unnao when he was on his way to Auraiya, where a protest rally was happening.
Earlier, cops had put up barricades near Hasanganj toll plaza on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway to prevent Akhilesh from going to Auraiya.
SP workers were protesting in Auraiya after their colleagues were allegedly assaulted by cops yesterday.
Clashes
Some SP workers were detained earlier following clashes
A day ago, party workers were protesting police partiality. The demonstration turned violent after cops didn't allow them to accompany the party candidate for the Zila Panchayat election to the nomination office in Auraiya.
Some SP workers were also detained yesterday following the clashes.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh has been taken to a guest house in Hasanganj of Unnao.
