Kunal Kemmu skips helmet. Mumbai Police shows him who's boss!

    What's the story

Actor Kunal Kemmu, known for 'Go Goa Gone,' 'Golmaal' and 'Kalyug,' has been fined Rs. 500 by Mumbai Police for not wearing a helmet while riding a bike.

Interestingly, it was Kunal who first tweeted an apology after noticing his photo being circulated online.

"We wish a regret could avert mishaps!" Mumbai Police tweeted an hour later, saying an e-challan had been issued!

    Twitter Post

The tweet that gained massive attention

I have seen this picture out there and honestly it’s very embarrassing given I love bikes and ride regularly and always with a helmet and some more gear but whether it’s a long ride or just next door a helmet should always be worn.apologies I don’t want to set the wrong example! pic.twitter.com/s8mDnmbTsv

    Reactions

Devoted fans question Mumbai Police's actions

Though Mumbai Police were applauded for their impartial attitude, netizens criticized them for punishing only celebs but not others indulging in similar acts.

They also demanded proof that he was violating a rule.

It was an MV Agusta Brutale superbike that belongs to brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan, and maybe he was just posing, they said.

    Twitter Post

But Mumbai Police puts its foot down

.@anilmanu1991 brought to our notice by your tweet, an e-challan Number MTPCHC1800225825 has been issued to the concerned pic.twitter.com/r1ui4krsQ9

    Quote

Kemmu gets challan but wins hearts

Despite the challan, Kemmu won fans over with his humility, rarely seen in Bollywood celebrities. "Simply loved your honesty for this," said @animeshbhatta01. "For this tweet only one word...RESPECT," posted @1248PLC. "It's very good to see you accepting your mistake," commented @palajay36.

    Selfie click

Earlier, it was Varun Dhawan who earned Mumbai Police's wrath

Kunal acknowledged having received the challan, the payment of which is yet to be done.

But he is not the first actor who got reprimanded by Mumbai Police.

In November last year, actor Varun Dhawan got chided when he leaned halfway out of his car window without wearing a seat belt and clicked a selfie with a fan.

    He too apologized.
