    IIT counselling makes a smooth start, 7 rounds to be conducted

    What's the story

    23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and other government institutes started the joint seat allocation process with no technical glitches.

    Students were able to access the admission portal and were able to fill their choices of courses and institutes in decreasing order of their preference.

    The authorities will conduct seven rounds of admissions counselling.

    BJP President Amit Shah will visit Mumbai and is scheduled to have 27 meetings with his party cadre and leaders to review preparedness for the next assembly polls.

    In the wake of the upcoming Presidential elections, Shah will also meet Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray at his residence.

    The meeting will be crucial given how the relationship has turned sour between the parties.

    With threats of Shiv Sena about parting ways with BJP-led state government getting more frequent, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that he was ready for mid-term polls.

    The state government is surviving with the support of 63 Sena members in the assembly. With the recent agrarian crisis, Sena leaders have threatened to back out if the demand for complete loan waiver is not met.

    Swine flu claims 11 lives in Mumbai this year

    The death toll in Mumbai from swine flu has risen to 11 this year as compared to no deaths reported in 2016.

    There have been 211 cases of swine flu reported so far.

    According to doctors, the elderly, children and people with diabetes, hypertension and HIV are at high risk and treatment must be started within two days of showing the first symptoms.
