    Mumbai and its suburban areas are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

    As per the latest forecast from the weather office, other districts like Thane and Raigad are also going to receive moderate rainfall.

    Furthermore, the IMD reported that heavy rainfall intensity is likely to decrease gradually from Friday onward.

    Mumbai received 395mm of rainfall this year so far: IMD

    In spite of the delayed monsoon, the IMD confirmed that Mumbai had received over 95% of the rainfall so far this month since Saturday last week.

    Reportedly, the June normal for the Colaba observatory in Mumbai South is nearly 542.3mm.

    This year, it received 395mm of rain, out of which 371.4mm of rain was received from June 24 to 29.

    Rain triggers traffic jams for Mumbaikars

    Amid the current weather conditions, road traffic in some sections of the city was impacted, and local rail services were halted to some extent on Friday morning as moderate to heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai and its suburbs.

    Commuters also complained that the Andheri subway, which is located between Andheri and Jogeshwari stations of the Western Railway, was closed due to waterlogging.

    BMC to proceed with 10% water cut plan: Report

    According to the Times of India, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will proceed with a 10% water cut starting July 1 despite the fast filling of catchment areas of lakes amidst rains.

    For the first time since the monsoon arrived, all seven Mumbai lakes (Bhatsa, Middle Vaitarna, Vaitarna, and Tansa) received over 100mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours ending on Thursday morning.

    Separately, the weather office predicted thunderstorms and light to moderate spells of rainfall over Kutch and Saurashtra, the south Gujarat Region and North Konkan, Chhattisgarh, Northwest Madhya Pradesh, and some of the adjoining areas of eastern Madhya Pradesh.

    Meanwhile, Bihar has received "heavy to very rainfall" between 8:00am on Thursday to 8:30am on Friday, the IMD added.
