    What's the story

The Mumbai/brihanmumbai-municipal-corporation'>Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to appoint the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay at a Rs. 1.91cr cost for studying the elevation-levels of buildings on south Mumbai's Malabar Hill.

IIT-B would recommend if the properties' heights could be raised without obstructing the view of Marine Drive and the Backbay.

A proposal regarding it would be tabled before BMC Standing Committee.

Funnel shape vision of Marine Drive from Malabar Hill

Malabar Hill offers a funnel-shaped view of the Marine Drive; there are about 108 properties in this "funnel-of-vision".

Properties' heights here are restricted, but plot-owners are approaching authorities saying their building could go higher and not obstruct the view as it is a hilly-terrain.

Such cases were referred to Urban Development Department; the powers of deciding the same were recently transferred to BMC Commissioner.
