    What's the story

In a dance of geography, our world hosts 195 countries, each nestled snugly among its neighbors, crafting an intricate puzzle of shared borders.

This global embrace creates a "borderline" love affair, where some nations find themselves entwined with numerous counterparts, offering their citizens a passport to effortless exploration.

Join us as we unveil the well-connected wanderlands that beckon travelers with open arms.

    Country 1

China and Russia: 14 countries each

Both China and Russia share borders with a whopping 14 countries each.

China is bordered by India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Russia, North Korea, Myanmar, Bhutan, Laos, Nepal, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

On the other hand, Russia shares borders with Ukraine, Norway, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Georgia, China, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, North Korea, Finland, Estonia, and Kazakhstan.

    Country 2

    Brazil: 10 countries

The second on the list is the stunning South American gem, Brazil.

Nestled within the vibrant tapestry of Latin America, it borders an impressive total of 10 neighboring countries, except Chile and Ecuador.

These include Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana to the north, Colombia to the northwest, Uruguay to the south, and Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia to the southwest.

    Country 3

    France: 10 countries

France also shares its borders with 10 countries. These include eight with Metropolitan France and two bordering the destination's Overseas Departments/Regions.

Metropolitan France shares borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, Spain, and Andorra, while Brazil and Suriname border French Guiana (an Overseas Department).

The territories of France have borders with five additional countries, but they aren't typically included in the count.

    Country 4

The Democratic Republic of the Congo: 9 countries

Next on the list is the Democratic Republic of the Congo, often referred to as Congo-Kinshasa to distinguish it from the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville), which shares its borders with nine nations.

These are Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville), Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

Factually, it is the 11th largest country in the world.

    Country 5

Germany: 9 countries; Austria and Serbia: 8 countries

Germany shares its borders with nine countries including Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

This is followed by Austria and Serbia bordered by eight countries each.

While the former shares borders with Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein, the latter is surrounded by Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
