    What's the story

Former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli is a celebrated figure across the world and has a huge fan following, both on social media and otherwise.

In fact, with 256 million followers on Instagram, he is one of the most followed celebrities in the world.

Now, the latest report by Hopper HQ claims that Kohli charges Rs. 11.45 crore for an Instagram post.

    Only Indian on the list

    Only Indian on the list

According to the list, Kohli is the only Indian to have made it to the top 20 list globally. Kohli stands at the 14th position in the list, charging $1.38 million per sponsored post on Instagram.

The highest fee is taken by football star Cristiano Ronaldo $3.23 million (Rs. 26.7 crore), followed by Lionel Messi $2.56 million (Rs. 21.5 crore).

    Other personalities

    Others on the list

While Ronaldo and Messi take up the first two positions, the third and fourth are occupied by Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner.

Gomez charges $2. 55 million per post whereas Jenner charges $2.38 million per sponsored post.

After Kohli, the next Indian on the list is Priyanka Chopra Jonas, ranked at the 29th position. She charges around Rs. 4.40 crore ($532,000) for each post.

    The amount increases every year

Annual money made on the platform keeps increasing

"It's still shocking to me that the annual money made on the platform increases every year," Hopper HQ's co-founder Mike Bandar was quoted saying.

"Yet, what fascinates me more is the consistent players at the top. It's apparent that the glitz and glamour of traditional celebrities still hold power over the new 'influencer' status," Bandar observed.

    Earnings

Besides Instagram, Kohli has multiple revenue streams

In addition to his social media earnings, Kohli has multiple revenue streams, both from cricket and otherwise.

The 34-year-old cricketer has an A+ level contract with the BCCI that has allowed him to earn an average of Rs. 7 crore annually.

Additionally, he also receives a salary from his Indian Premier League (IPL) contract, brand endorsements, properties, and investments, among other streams.
