    What's the story

Every country in the world has its fair share of unique things to offer.

While some may look useful, others may appear bizarre to tourists or onlookers owing to their oddities.

One such nation is China, where, right from its local practices to products available in markets, there are several things unfamiliar to outsiders.

Let's take a look at some of them.

    #1

    Canned air

The world is not alien to China's concerning air pollution ordeals and Chen Guanbyao, who is a popular businessman in the country, is using this as a lucrative opportunity.

The man is shipping "fresh air" cans from the town of Banff in Canada's Rocky Mountains to masses in China.

According to CNN, the first batch of air cans was sold out within a week!

    #2

    Geese police officers

While many countries include dogs in their security forces, China does it quite differently.

Reportedly, the country has used geese to help them investigate matters. They say that the animal has a sharp sense of hearing, which acts as a radar.

Not only that, they believe that geese are better crime fighters and more vigilant than dogs.

    #3

    Wearable air purifiers

Another invention by China to tackle its air pollution woes is a wearable air purifier.

It looks like a headphone and promises to remove 99.9% of toxins in and around your headspace.

What's more? Well, this gadget also features a washable filter, which removes the need to get those expensive replaceable ones.

It is an affordable solution to those big and immobile air purifiers.

    #4

    Bite-sized watermelons

China produces bite-sized watermelons which are a summer favorite among locals.

Grown in the Jinshan district of Shanghai, this miniature fruit makes for a big business in the country. Farmers have it that small watermelons sell faster because they can be eaten quickly.

According to Xinhuanet, the output of these watermelons can hit 110 million kg in a year owing to their popularity!

    #5

    Cockroach farms

China practices cockroach breeding as a form of insect farming, primarily utilizing them as a valuable food source for lizards.

They are also sold to the pharmaceutical industry to make medicines.

It is home to several buildings that comprise over six million cockroaches and imagine, in 2013 it was reported that the nation has over 100 such farms!
